Hello friends, subscribers, lovely people. Long time no Substack Newsletter. We’ve had a tough few weeks, our family dog became ill, and we did our best to nurse him through it, finally we had to make the decision to have him put to sleep.
Joe was an ex-racing greyhound that raced under the name of Rock The Casbah, but the astute ladies at the rescue centre made the correct decision in naming him “Joe” after Clash lead singer Joe Strummer. His departure has left a huge hole in our hearts and in our house, I’m still seeing him out of the corner of my eye now, it’s like someone’s taken my shadow away. Greyhounds are exceptional creatures; when you first meet them they might seem aloof and remote, but after you’ve spent some time with them they slowly reveal their personalities, and they get right under your skin. Joe was the best of dogs (as I’m sure all pet owners would say about their furry friends), his unconditional love makes it so hard to say goodbye.
Goodbye Joe X
If you’re a dog type person and you have some room to spare, I can’t recommend greyhounds enough as potential pets, and there’s a lot of these old racing guys out there looking for a happy home. Check the Greyhound Trust (in UK) for your local adoption centre.
Meanwhile, whilst we have been keeping our dog-bed-side vigil, not a lot has been going on here work-wise at Tank Girl HQ. We released Tank Girl Poster Magazine #19 with subdued fanfare, so some of you may have missed that one (a great fold-out poster image by Greg Staples and a bonus double-sided poster to boot).
This week we’ve added a nifty colour version of the popular Deadline/Tank Girl 5 Foot Door Poster to The Tank Girl Store, this comes with a cute mini version of the black and white original.
Hope you’re all doing okay out there, look after yourselves and your pets!
Big love

I'm so sorry. My grandparents always had at least 2 greyhounds, retired racers too - gorgeous gentle doggos. Look after yourselves XXX
I’m so sorry for your loss Alan. Hope you and yours are doing ok!
